KLYRR : Built for students NOBODY built for - Deepti Krishna
We Could Not Afford the System.
So We Built a New One.
A platform built by students, for students.
The Corridor I Was Not Supposed to Be Standing In
I was standing in my school corridor as a punishment for talking too much. My principal called me into his office. He shared a little about himself first, the way good teachers do before they ask anything of you. Then he asked us to introduce ourselves.
When my turn came I said what I always say. Sir, I want to go to America after 12th.
I braced for the laugh. The eye roll. The quiet version of be realistic that adults give teenagers when they think the dream is too loud for the room.
Instead he looked at me and said something I have thought about almost every day since.
I have been standing a little taller ever since.
When the Dream Hits a Wall
But standing taller does not pay consultancy fees. After that conversation, reality arrived quickly. We started reaching out to firms that help students navigate studying abroad. Three of them. Four of them. Same story every time. We will simplify the process for you. And every time the pricing came up, I looked at my parents sitting across from me and I knew I could not ask them to keep doing this.
I was not the only one. I had friends who wanted the same thing and hit the same walls. They had the grades. They had the ambition. What they did not have was a counselor, a system that started from scratch with them, or a price point that made sense for a family in a Tier 3 city.
The dream was loud. The access was not.
A Random Evening That Changed Everything
Last year I was doomscrolling when my fyp started filling up with startup stories. People building things from nothing. People who saw a problem they lived inside and decided that was enough of a reason to start. Somewhere between one reel and the next, something clicked.
One evening I was just talking with my cousin founders Jiya and Aryan. The kind of conversation that starts as venting and slowly becomes something else. We kept coming back to the same question. Why is there nothing built for students like us?
That conversation became a decision. And the decision became KLYRR.
What KLYRR Actually Is
KLYRR is an AI-powered international college application platform built for students who want to study abroad but have no institutional support. No counselor. No college prep class. No parent who has been through this system before.
It is a single place where a student can go from I want to study abroad to my applications are submitted — without paying thousands for guidance that should be accessible to everyone. It helps students discover universities, track deadlines across countries, get AI-powered essay guidance, and understand each country's admissions system in plain language.
We built it for the student who is standing in a corridor somewhere with a dream they are not ashamed of and no system that was built with them in mind.
We Still Do Not Know If It Will Work
Then came a month of exam prep. Then Jiya and Aryan's boards and pre-boards. We waited. We kept building in whatever pockets of time we had. On a phone, not a laptop.
And now, after a month long wait, we are ready to share what we have been building.
We still do not know if it will work. We have never done this before. But we have a what if. And that has always been enough to try.
Not giving you the spoiler just yet. We are sharing this journey this month.
Stay tuned.
The system did not work for us, so we are building a new one.
